i want my computer to turn off automatically

i recently upgraded from win 98 to win xp. my computer
use to power off itself when i shut down windows 98, now
since the upgrade it doesn't. can someone please tell me
how to get this feature back? thanks!

Hello,

Had the same problem, See if this helps.
1. Right click on the desktop away from any icons and
select properties.
2. Click the screensaver tab on top of the window that
opened.
3. In the "Monitor Power" field, Click the POWER button.
4. Click the "APM" tab on top.
5. Place a check in "Enable Advanced Power Management
Support".
6. Click OK, Then OK again. It should now power down like
it used too.
