I exported messages from another computer to a PST file on a CD. I have
saved this file to my documents. I have attempted to both open and to import
this file into Outlook 2007. Either effrort opens a second Personal Folder
in my mail folders, but there is no data in the folder. How can I get the
data to open/import so that I can view it.

the export function is not recommended as a method of transfering native
Outlook data as it is performed while Outlook is still open, and thus runs a
very big risk of corrupting the exported file.
If you have access to the old machine, just copy the file with Outlook
closed.

Not an option - I no longer have the other machine. Other ideas?

Firstly I suspect that you may have corrupted your Outlook profile by trying
to use the import function. That's another reason why it's not recommended!
Go to Control Panel-Mail and create a new Outlook Profile. then open it, and
do File-Open Outlook Data File. If you then still can't see any data, look
at the file in Windows explorer and see what size it is.

If you copied the file from cd you also have to set the read only attribute
to 'off' before you attempt to open it in OL

....and me thinking that following the directions from Outlook Help meant they
were the recommended steps...

OK - I deledted the file from my documents, successfully created a new
profile in outlook, rebooted, recopied the PST file from the CD to my
documents (guessing that the file on the CD probably wasn't corrupted) making
certain that it was NOT read only, tried opening the file in OL and got the
same result. Any other suggestions?

And what size does Windows explorer report that this pst file is?
