I've misplaced precious pictures in this cosmic abyss and am praying for
HELP! I wanted to share photos of my babies with my mom that I'd taken on my
Sprint phone and downloaded to my laptop. They were in a regular file folder
(are "file" and "folder" different things in computer-speak?) and I saw an
option on the left that says "E-mail this file" and thought I'd be able to
type in her addy and send, but all it did was put them somewhere I can't find
*sob*. PLEASE, if you are a techie, with a heart of a Good Samaritan, write
a response for the lost such as myself :-)

Hmmm...-Maybe a new MS error message? "Cosmic abyss not accessible".
Folders contain files (And other folders). An image would be one file.
When you click the email option, your email program should offer to re-size
the picture, then open a blank message in which you can enter the address. Is
this what happens? What email program do you use?
The default folder should be My Documents/My Pictures, so poke around in
there-some cameras create a new folder for each upload, so you may have to
open several folders to find your pictures.
This would be a good time to learn how to rename your pictures and place
them in folders you create, rather than accept the default.
You can also use the Search feature in the Start menu to search by type
(Pictures) and by date.

Each photo is one file and files are kept in folders.
XP provides a default folder for pictures.
Open My Computer, then click on My Documents.
A list of folders will open. One of them will be My Pictures. Double click
on it to open it and your picture should be there.
If you can't find it there do the following:
Click on Start and click on Search.
A window will open, check the Pictures box.
In the textbox for "All or part of file name, type exactly this:
*.jpg
and click Search
This will search for all photo files on your computer, with the thumbnails
of them displayed.
When you see the thumbnail of the picture you want, right click on it and
click on "Open containing folder" on the opening list.
