I think this is a password problem?

I joined the security database. I can open the back end. It automatically
comes up with the account and login. If I try to open the front end in
exclusive mode it works with the password and login but it doesn't give me
design view only form view. I don't have any developer menus. If I hold
down the shift key to bypass the startup form it works, I get design view
but I can't change an object. I think I must have the wrong password. Is it
possible to have a different admin password on the front-end and the
back-end? If so is my only remedy finding out the other password or can I
add myself to the security database for the front-end?
TIA,

Janis,

I'm going to go ut on limb here and say you did not design this database.
You will need to get in touch with whoever did and get the password to allow
you to make design changes. As for developer menus, only Access 2007 has
developer menus, perhaps you mean design mode (the little blue triangle).
If you are looking for that then you will still need to get in touch weith
the original developer because it sounds like s/he set it up like that.

I am in touch with the orig developer but it was 14 years ago and he doesn't
appear to remember it. I was wondering if I needed to add something to the
workgroup security file. I've never dealth with Access security db before or
a split db before. So I think what you are saying is one password should
open both of them? Therefore I don't have the right password? I really
don't fully understand. I have one password that gets me the triangle in the
backend file and I am in design view but it doesn't work on the front end
file. I thought perhaps I could use this password to add myself to the
security database for the front end file?? If that is so please tell me how?
Otherwise just joining the security database didn't work.
Thanks

This question is solved. The user just remembered the admin password to the
other file. I guess you can have two admin passwords. Thanks for your help.
