I have always had problems with my computer.
But the one I need most help with at the moment is a problem with games run
with directx. Whenever I run a game that uses directx the computer freezes,
and when this happens the monitor seems to sort of go into standby (the
monitor light blinks)
By the way nothin' in the troubleshooter seems to work.

(System Specs)
Windows xp professional SP2
Intel
Pentium 4 CPU 2.66 GHz
2.68 GHz, 512 MB RAM
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 4000
Hard Drive: Maxtor 6Y120P0 (C:/ NTSF, D:/ FAT32)
Computer: ACPI Uniprocessor PC

(NOTES)
Other Recent problems include DVD drive disappearing according to the
computer, "no sound device detected" when there is one most definitely on the
computer.
Reinstalled windows - Fixed sound prob. Fixed problem listed above for about
2 hrs.

I am sure you have already did this but all that come to my mind first is to
get the newest drivers for you video card. Sorry I don't have any other ideas
right now.

Overheating might be a problem. Check the fans and grills inside your
box for dust.

when you talk about re-installing, did you format drive c: ? I would
suggest backing up all your data and then doing that. Afterwards update
your drivers.
Nope. Neither of those things seem to help.
Thanks for the trying though.
