I think i @*@*&@& my moniitor :( did i or not ?

We Live For The One We Die For The One

I got a new Vid card with this adaptor, VGA to DVI.

So i used it :)

Ive just got a normal Crt.

Now i think i'am stuck at 60 to 75htz, as looking at the screen now
makes me SICK.

Also i can not get above 85hertz in 800 by 600 ?

Oh well do you think i did any thing bAD ?

Maybe the DVI is stuck at 60 hz? Doesn't the card have a normal vga
output?
 
Its connected to VGA now.

i connected the Ati 9600 to the Monitor with DVI.

I;amusing now a Geforce Ti 200, and the screen seems the same @&^@&^.

So maybe i did somthing to the Monitor ):

As the monitor is just a normal CRT, no a flat panel lcd, do CRT have
DVI ???

you used the adapter for a digital(LCD TFT etc.) and for kicks you plugged in your analog CRT into it?
It shouldn't have effected the refresh, maybe should shorted the thing out. You removed the adapter now and it seems to be stuck.
You probably dont have the driver loaded for your CRT any longer.
 
It shouldn't, I use the DVI on my Iiyama CRT and it doesn't seem to mind
(gets rid of some odd banding when I use the DVI). Sounds like a software
issue - may be that your old monitor driver has now been replaced with a
generic one, and when you plug our original monitor back in, the OS doesn't
recognise it... You have taken the DVI adapter out now, right?

DVI just stands for Digital Video Interface. ATI cards actually have DVI-I
which means the plug provides an analog signal as well as the digital
signal. The converter only uses the pins that relate to an analog signal, so
they are totally safe. I have a 17" Sony CRT running off my DVI plug right
now, no problem, and selected at 85Hz.

Yep.

When i had to DVi connected to the Monitor the pc booted up and the
monitor light was on, but no picture.

Maybe i need a monitor driver to support it ??

But my Packard bell Monitor never had drivers and does not now its
plug and play ??

Can i use drivers for other monitors for mine to get DVi to work or
DVI wont work with mine ???

I have a Packard Bell A920 (C9rzr)

Try unplugging the monitor and pressing on a few times before replugging.
Try another power lead, then another socket, then another house, then
another city, then another state, then another continent - and if that
fails, you need SERIOUS help.
 
This may sound odd, but do you have anything else plugged into the Videocard
as well as the DVI monitor?

A second VGA monitor, or the TV Out? Even if they are switched off the
display may be goingto thse devices as primary, and if the DVI is switched
off as secondary - you'll get these results.

Ofen If I just use the VGA and DVI on my videocard I only get a signal on
the VGA on bootup. Otherwise it's prefered to use a DVI-I lead, and switch
the Monitor over to DVI-A mode also to test the Analogue O/P on the
videocard; BUT if the OSD does not work - the monitor's not working.
