I suddenly cant add an appointment to my Microsoft Outlook

I have had no problems adding appointments to my calendar but now it wont let
me. I right click on it and and it will allow me to type it in and when I
hit enter it says "unable to save". The usual box that comes up for a new
apppointment does not pop up anymore. The only thing I have done differently
is put in a task. Did I do something inadvertantly? Help!!!
