i still don't know what to do.

I am a computer moron, I admit, so I do not understand
what you mean by bootable. How do I boot it and what do I
do with the partitions? Sorry to be so troublesome, but I
need more detailed instruction. I won't be offended if
you explain it to me like I'm an idiot because I feel
like one:).

And also please reply to the original thread, don't start a new one.

"Bootable" means that the pc will start from it.

When you start up, there will be a message as to how to get into your BIOS
settings. Do that and set the PC to boot from CD.
Then insert the cd and switch off. Switch back on again and your machine
will boot from the CD.

I have to say that if you are having to ask how to boot from a CD that you
would be far better off taking your machine to a competent repair shop and
get them to do whatever needs doing.
