Hello to all,

I feel your pain but the good news is that I may have a solution for
the majority of you here. Let me preface this by saying the fix is a
bit time consuming but hopefully I and your motherboard maufacturer can
make it as painless as possible.

If you have tried everything but to no avail you have to look at your
BIOS. Where messing with the BIOS was once tabboo most manufacturers
have made it pretty safe to flash your BIOS with their updates if you
follow their instructions.

Case in point, I just fixed my daughters computer, an older modler that
has had problems for a long time. We have tried to set up her digital
camera, E-bookman and MP3 player over the course of a year and no luck.
I have done just about everything listed in these posting and nothing
worked. My neighbor recently mentioned possibly getting updates for my
BIOS from the manufacturer. I just finished doing so and the camera
works, the MP3 player works the E-bookman works, a couple of other
periferal devices work and I'm in the process of seeing if the printer
will now work (which also hasn't worked)

Find the manufacturer of your mainboard (motherboard) and the model of
said mother board (silk screened on the board itself) If you don't want
to tear your copmputer apart you can download this:

http://www.download.com/SiSoftware-...571.html?part=dl-SiSoftwar&subj=uo&tag=button

....and it will tell you what you have in your computer. Then go to the
manufacturers site and go to support or downloads or whatever they have
it listed under and get your BIOS updates and follow the directions. It
isn't as hard as it may seem. If I can do it anyone can do it.

These links will give you an idea of what I did and it worked just
fine.

This site gives you an overview of what you will be doing:

This is what I did as directed by my motherboard manufacters
instructions(some good resources here as well):

Give it a shot. It worked for me.

Take care,

AH, the evil code 10, device cannot start.

Only a couple possibilits. The most often I've seen, is bad hardware,
followed by upper and lower filters (only for CD), then bad drivers.
Then resourse conflicts. Yes, a flash did resolve the one case where I
had that issue. It was a Dell laptop, i forget which exact one.
