Would some one please tell me where the I.P address can be found in windows
xp please, I know it sounds silly but I have completly forgot

The easiest way to SEE the ip address is Start > Run type command and enter
type ipconfig at the command prompt. this will show you the current ip
address assigned to each of your network adaptors.

Or

Start > Connect to > Show all connections, highlight the network connection
and click view status of this connection from network tasks (left side of
window) click the support tab.
for more info lease time etc, click details.

Hope that's right,
Martin

1. Open a command prompt window (start - run - CMD) and enter the
following command in the window: IPCONFIG

2. Open Control Panel - Network Connections. Right-click on the icon
for your connection, select Status, and go to the Support tab.

3. http://whatismyip.com
This option is very good if you are using a router and want to know
the external i.p. that the router is using to connect to the Internet.
The other 2 options will show the local i.p. assigned to your computer
by the DHCP server in the router.

Good luck
