hi ,i have a buffalo nas drive with a seagate usb drive plugged in to it
when
i try to copy a folder or file from the nas to the usb i get the error
"0x8007045d cannot perform this operation because of a I/O error" i have
tried turning system restore off/on as per the solutions i researched on ms
website but still doesn't work also i cannot backup to these locations
mapped
as drive L and M any help appreciated

does the usb drive work if you plug it into your pc?
or do you get an I/O error there also?

hi thanks for replying, yes the usb drive works fine its only when i map the
drive that i have problems .when the nas drive was installed it created a
folder called "usbdrive1"i can copy files to that okay but it doesnt show as
a seperate drive with its own capacity and cannot be used to store backups

as fat as I know the usb plugged into the nas is to extend the size of the
nas storage itself.....

not for you to write directly to that usb drive

appreciate your input,so to clarify the folder that the nas created is the
complete 500gb usb drive,i ask because there is no indication as to the size
remaining on the usb drive,if i use that configuration then i have to work
out the remaining space by the size of the files i put in,also according to
the user instructions it should be possible to map a specific folder in the
drive (this option is present in the nas config)although i suspect this is
dependant on the os in use, thanks
