I recently installed XP (previously was 98), and Norton internet security
2005, but now the Audio device can't be detected... "No Audio Device". Could
this have been deleted when the Antivirus was scanning??? thanks

Remove any vendor supplied sound card software from Add/Remove programs in
control panel if applicable. Shutdown. Remove card. Reboot. Shutdown. Install
sound card. Reboot. What happens? Does new hardware install wizard start?
Do yuo have PCI card or onboard sound?

deepc,
You will need to go to the PC or Sound Card manufacturer's website, and see if there is a driver update for XP, for the card. If no driver is available, you may need to purchase a new sound card that is XP compatible. You may also want to check for updates for other hardware for your PC. If you have a printer, scanner, digital camera, etc..

You may need to download new XP drivers for those devices.

Thanks, fortunatly, by you asking me for the PCI, upon locating this I was
able to track down the manufacturer. They did not have any real advice, but
thanks to another forum, I was able to locate an update file, which now
works... so I did not need to remove the sound card.

Many thanks for your help

Thanks, I've located the PCI and contcted the manufature, but they had
nothing. But another forum had a file, which I downloaded and it now works.
Upon your advice I have also updated some of my other hardware.

Thanks
