I NEVER reference RE & FW in sub lines - also clogs subject line

I have not ever once looked to the subject line to see if a message was
forwarded or replied to. Beyond that, I always find myself looking around
the 'RE' and 'FW' that's automatically placed into the subject line. I often
sort my e-mails by subject and find this feature annoying.

I'm using Outlook 2003 at work.

And Outlook actually never sorts on the subject property. On the Extended
MAPI level, all the grouping and sorting is done on the
PR_NORMALIZED_SUBJECT property (which does not include the prefix), rather
than the displayed PR_SUBJECT
