Hi,
Without much thought I took a recent XP update which installed Silverlight
on my PC running XP SP3 and fully updated. This appears to be taking me down
a road which includes a multiplicity of updates and possibly reduced
performance on my PC. I have tried to use Control Panel > Add/Remove
Programs to remove the Silverlight components but find that it will not
permit to do so (1.0.30401.0) with the message "This Update cannot be
Removed". Can anyone help me please?

Geoff,
I am having the very same problem.

I have Silverlight v1.0 installed. On 9/26 an automatic update installed for
this version. Now, automatic updates are telling me to install Silverlight 2.
I have tried and tried, however it seems it won’t install if Version 1 is
installed on my machine. I attempted to remove v1 but I get an error message
that the v1 .msi (installation package) is missing. I haven’t messed with
Silverlight except to try and remove it. I am thinking the installation
package was messed up when the update installed. So…….How do I get
Silverlight v1 out of my machine in order to install V2, which now called a
H-Priority update?

Please Help us, TechNo Wizards ;)
