i deleted almost everything in program files. and programs that I really don't need. My point is to just redue everything without formating the drive. i want to start fresh. but i got alot of stuff on my computer that i don't want to loose. but i want to start from scratch. my computer is so bauged down it takes 10 mins to open a program. ok well i did get rid of everything but windows xp and my files that i need. but i had problems in add/remove programs so i just went to program files and deleted everything. so now i need to go back and get all those programs off of windows. how can i do this can i just redue the registry? or do i really have to reinstall windows and if i do have to reinstall windows how can i do it with out formatting my drive. thanks. also my main drive is E: if i get it changed to C: that will mess up alot of links also. because windows xp wont install to e: it goes to c: so i need to do that. someone, anyone please help me. THANK YOU!

If you have a retail version of Xp you can do a repair install. This will
repair window without removing programs, files and settings.
Repair install can be found on the bootable XP disk in the install section.

Isn't repair installation the one that when you hit the r key and it basically goes to ms-dos prompt. i did that and i copied my registry files to a tmp folder and then deleted them and then transfered the registry files from the repair section of windows back and now my computer is running some what fine. but all the programs and what ever i deleted are still there but are probably just mis link files. how can i clean all of my stuff up so everything i deleted can be off windows. all icons and mis linked shortcuts, etc. well thanks
