I need to find my calendar entries

I had to re-install my OS last week (XP Pro), because a couple of programs
were not operating correctly and their support personel said that would
correct the problem, which it did. I am in the process of re-installing my
software. The programs are on the hard drive, but Windows needs to be
re-educated that they are there. I had to re-install Office 2002 XP, which I
did successfully. Now I need to find the contacts list and the calendar
entries so Outlook will recognize them.

I know they are probably still on the computer, maybe in my other ID. When I
re-installed Windows XP, it recreated another version of my user ID. All of
My Documents were in the other version and I had to change ownership to
myself (even though I'm the only person who uses my computer.)

Can anyone tell me where I might find the data files for Outlook? I'd
really appreciate it.

Hi,
please search the pst file on your computer.
and open it again in outlook via file > open > datafile
 
I tried to open the file as you suggested and nothing happened. I even tried
to open it from my backup data from my other hard drive.
 
You didn't even get an error message? Check the .PST file to make sure it's
not marked read-only.

I went to File, Open, Outlook Data File. I chose the outlook.pst file and got
an outlook border, but a totally white screen. No error message or anything.
I have even gone as far as trying to open any *.pst files in my backups and
am getting the very same result. I'm beginning to think that Outlook is NOT
the way to keep my calendar and address book. Every time I have had to
re-format my hard drive, I have never been able to retrieve the data from
Outlook files.

HI again,
how big is your pst file.
If your pst file is large, it takes time to open it!
 
If you go to File | Data File Management, do you see any .PST files listed
there?

I've located a couple of *.pst files on my computer. The smallest is 1.2 M
and the larger is 18.2 M. I have opened the files and each one does the same
thing... I get a white screen and nothing ever comes up.
 
The list includes an archive folders location, a hotmail folders location and
four personal files locations. Nothing that specifically says pst, but I
thought they were included in the personal files.
 
Personal folders files are .PST files. Do you have the Folder List showing
in Outlook 2002?

I'm not sure what you're asking. I am running Outlook 2002 and I see four
entries for personal folders, which you say are *.pst files. I can open the
folders where the *.pst files are located. One of them specifies "mail
delivery location." Two of them are on my other hard drive in places where I
backed up my data before re-installing my OS.

On a side note, I will be going out of town beginning tomorrow, Aug. 7 until
Aug. 13. I will not be able to communicate or deal with this issue until I
return. I am anxious to retrieve my data. Thanks for your help.
 
In the main Outlook window, click View | Folder List. If you're just looking
at the Outlook Bar you won't see all the files and their subfolders, you'll
just see icons for some of the folders. The Folder List shows you all of the
..PST files you have in the list in Data File Management.

What do you see listed in the Folder List? Make sure everything is collapsed
(click any minus sign boxes next to folder names -- when they're all plus
signs, everything is collapsed). Now tell me everything you see in the list.
