Pretty simple problem, hopefull a simple solution,

I plug my camera in, the Microsoft scanner and camera wizard opens so I can
import my pictures. I do not want that to happen anymore.

I do not wish to use the wizard because Photoshop has an import feature that
is much more intuitive and suits my needs better. I'm getting a little
annoyed by having to close the windows wizard everytime. Any help will be
much appreciated

Try the following steps....

Connect your camera and go to...My Computer.

The camera should show up as a Removable Disk.

Right click the icon for the camera and from the menu
choose...Properties / Autoplay tab.

Make the choices you prefer.

Example: Mixed content / Take no action / Apply / OK.

The following article may be worth a look also.

(888022) You are not prompted to choose a
program, or the wrong program is started when
you try to play multimedia content from a removable
storage device in Windows XP

AhHA! Thank you!

Just a note, in your reply you say

It is actually the "Events" tab on my PC, but you got me there I'm just
posting this for anyone who may view this later and has the same tabs as I
do.

P.S. The IT guy here at work said "It just can't be done" I swear this guy
is the IT guy that IS the personification of all the jokes you see about IT
people on TV and such. do you need a job in Ohio? I may be able to hook you
up :)
