After taking a few weeks break from the game 'World of Warcraft', I started
playing again last Tuesday,May 9th. There was a new patch for the game, and I
downloaded it. Ever since then, the game has been running very choppy. I am
getting horrible FPS, sometimes at 6 or 11 or 13 or 20. My CPU Usage % in the
Tasks Manager is extremely high, sometimes being 50 to 100%. It has usually
been around 11 to 12% and I have bought this custom made computer in August
2004 with no problems. I am also getting horribly slow load times, and the
System Idle Process in the Processes tab of the Task Manager is taking up 94
CPU at 16k. Everything was running well until I downloaded that patch. I
installed drivers for my video card, downloaded the WoW Repair, and done many
spyware scans. Something is wrong and I need some help. Nothing seems to
work. I have 1gig of RAM and an ATI Radeon 9800 XT. Is my card dying, is my
RAM broken, what is the problem and what do I do?

Hi Anthony,

Since that problem just started happening recently, try a System Restore.

How to use Windows XP System Restore:

"The System Idle Process in the Processes tab of the Task Manager is taking up 94
CPU at 16k." This process only *indicates* the idle percentage of your processor. Hence if it shows 94% only the remaining 6% is being used by other processes and you have plenty processing power left. If you get high usage the easiest way to find out which process is using the most is to sort it by percentage (click on the tab above the percentage). Once you have done that and identified the process search for it if you do not know what it does and post back.
