i got my new pc thursday of last week but cant seem to figure out how im (administrator) is suppose to grant the limited users internet access? which means evey one is having to use my account to go online, and im getting really fraustrated.

Hello
Control Panel>User Accounts>Create a New Account>then fill in the blanks

Be sure to visit MS Windows Update site and download the updates, this is
for your security and safety.
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp

The thing most people do not know is that after they buy a computer with
virus protection installed they have to go in and register and download the
updates and continue to update it or set it to auto update then after a
period of time the subscription will run out usually in 90-180 days at that
time they will have to purchase new protection either online or from a
retail store and at that time they will be able to update for a period of
365 days (1 year).

While logged on to your account, check the existing network connection.
Double click on it to bring up the screen that contains the Connect button.
You'll also find a radio button that can be moved from "Only me" to "Anyone
who uses this computer."

Create a shortcut to this connection and place a copy of it in each users
start menu or on their desktop.

You may need to adapt this approach by creating a network connection for
each user with their account info (just depends on how your ISP handles log
on for each account). Elect to share the connection when creating it. Then
provide each user with a shortcut copy for their network connection.

Actually there are free antispyware and antivirus software programs that can
be downloaded. You do not have to rely on pre-installed trial versions that
expire in a few weeks, and you don't have to buy Norton or McAfee.

I use AdAware from Lavasoft for antispyware. Another good one is Spybot
Search and Destroy. My antivirus software is AVG from Grisoft. The key to
using these programs is to run them often, and check for and install updates
often.

People should also frequently check for Microsoft Windows updates by
clicking on Windows Updates and downloading all Critical Updates, all
desired Windows XP updates, and all desired driver updates. Personally I
download everything listed in all 3 categories.

I am new to XP home but I don't see a link to the updates
like I had on WinME

Damia, you should see the link in the (All) Programs section of the Start
Menu, at the top of the first column. I think that ME had it in the first
popup of the Start Menu?

With XP, you just need to go one layer deeper to find it. You could
copy/paste that shortcut to a more convenient location. Also, a right click
on the shortcut> Pin to Start Menu would copy it into the first panel.
