If it is, im pissed off! I just bought the home user
version and you can only use in on one PC. Those ****ers,
why dont the sales people in the stores (Offic Depot)
make that clear when you purchase the damn thing!

This is PRINTED ON THE BOX that my copy of XP came in "For installation and use on one computer (see License Agreement for license terms). You must accept the enclosed License Agreement before you can use this product. If you do not accept the terms of the License Agreement, you should promptly return the product for a refund." That's pretty _______ (there's that F word) plain to me.

Joe;
This is nothing new.
One license, one computer.
The way it has always been with all Microsoft consumer OSs.

Do you also get upset at the automobile dealership when you buy a new
automobile.
Shouldn't they have told you of the speed limits even though they are
clearly posted?

You could take responsibility for your own actions and read the
packaging you buy once in a while.

Or perhaps this is for you:

An easier way to read newsgroup messages:

Probably because they are minimum wages employess and don't have a clue
about the products they sell.

All version of Windows, and most ( Not all ) programs are 1 copy per 1
machine. This is nothing new. What is new is that MS uses a metheod to to
drive this point home. Windpws Product Activation. Expect to see it in more
and more software products as vendors try to curb software piracy.
Remember, they are in business to make money.

David;
What you say may be true.
Since the answer seems obvious, the employees probably do not
reiterate what is clearly written on the box.
They would forever reading all packaging to customers.

Joe never indicated that he even asked the question.
This seems more failing of the shopper than of the salesperson in this
case.

I think the fault is in modern society in general.

Too many salepeople, especially in the large chain stores, have that
"I'm not paid enough to care" attitude. And, consumers are to lazy to
learn anything about the products they buy. They want the answers to
their questions spoon-fed to them. As evidenced by the number of repeated
questions found in these newsgroups. Many questions can be answered by
doing some simple research or, in a lot of case, ny using a little ( not
so ) common sense.
