I tried to save my PowerPoint that costs me one letter grade. It said that
PowerPoint is shutting down. It was saving earlier. I tried saving, but
everytime that message came up. Then I tried opening it and it wouldn't work.

Your use of pronouns is making it a tad difficult to figure out just exactly
what is going on.

You opened PowerPoint
You opened a PowerPoint presentation open
You make changes
You hit the save button
You closed the presentation
You closed PowerPoint

Where in this sequence did the error come up?

Have you checked on-line for and installed all updates for PowerPoint?
(PowerPoint => Help => Check for updates)
Have you checked for and installed all updates to your version of Windows?
(Start => Programs => Windows Update)

While we are on the subject, what version of PowerPoint are you using?
What is the exact wording of the "saving" error message?
Could you expand a little on "wouldn't work"? Errors, blue screen of death,
closes immediately?
