I just installed Windows XP PRO, and my computer has a
15,1" wide screen, after installation the size screen
displaying web pages, word, excel an any program became
shorter, it means, the screen is between two black
columns.
Could somebody help me with this, please.

If all screens are sized incorrectly, use your monitor controls to adjust
the display.

If the problem is limited to certain applications only, readjust the
windows sizes by clicking the Maximize button. You may need to click it
twice, once to "Restore Down" and again to Maximize.

If using Maximize does not fully extend the window to cover the desktop (or
if the settings refuse to stick from one session to the next), open a problem
window. Right click the taskbar and select Cascade Windows. This resets
the remembered window dimensions to default values. Now use the
Maximize button.

Sharon F,

Thanks for your prompted answer, but I'm sorry, I did not
explain in a good way my concern, basically my monitor is
integrated with the keyboard and it does not have
controls to adjusted, and what I mean is not only the
size of web pages and programs of windows, is everything,
the background, the taskbar, is smaller than my screen
size. They do not fit the screen size.

Thanks in advance

Check for a separate control panel for the monitor. I have on rare occasion
seen software controls for monitor adjustment in lieu of physical buttons
and knobs on the monitor.

Also some monitor types (common on laptops), will display different
resolutions in a very set manner. Increase the desktop size and the results
are the selected number of pixels but the display shrinks instead of
expanding to fill all space. The manual for the laptop or monitor should
detail this behavior.

Suggestions:

Check Display> Advanced and Display> Advanced> Settings for an option to
extend the desktop.

Use Display> Advanced to change the resolution to one that fills the
monitor. If the desired dimensions do not seem to be available, go to
Display> Advanced> Settings> Adapter and check "List all modes."

I'm sorry but it doesn't work, I don't know what else to
do.

Please help me with this.

Daniel, the limitations are specific to your hardware and not Windows. The
display adapter, monitor or the combination are responisible. Suggest that
you continue your search for a solution by (not an inclusive list but a good
start):

**Consulting your system manuals. If these are unavailable, download them
from the internet.

**Contacting the computer system manufacturer. If the information is not
available in print, then tech support should have some answers.

**Research the web sites of the various hardware manufacturers for
solutions
