HELP! Can anyone help me with this problem? I had been having some
problem with my McAfee Anti-virus, so I unistalled it and re-installed.
Since I did that, I now get a pop-up blocker everytime I click a link
that is designed to open the target in a new window. I've tried
everything in terms of turning off the IE pop-up blockers, including:

1) Tools>Pop-up Blocker>Turn off pop-up blocker

2) Tools>Internet Options>Advanced>Allow active content to run in files
on my computer (checked)

3) Tools>Internet Options>Security>Custom Level>Disable "Use Pop-up
Blocker"

None of these work. What happens is that everytime I click a new window
targeted link, a small pop-up blocker, ironically enough, pops-up in
the lower right corner of my screen, which disappears after 5-6 seconds
if I take no action. The only way to get the target window to open is
to click a "view" link in the pop-up blocker pop-up. (Also, when this
pop-up blocker appears, it makes a really annoying ba-boop sound.

I don't have Privacy Services thru McAfee, so it isn't a McAfee blocker
either.

Someone suggested it may be the result of Spyware, but I've scanned my
computer and found nothing.

Any ideas? I'm totally frustrated with this.

Hi Dougie,

First do you have any other add-in toolbars installed? They may also have a
popup-blocker.

Next, disable all your toolbars. Internet Options>Advanced tab - uncheck
"enable third-party browser helpers" and then restart IE. If this then works
then you have to find and remove the add-in that is using its own popup
blocker. Re-enable your browser helpers then use the Add-In manager to
selectively disable each toolbar add-in until you find the offending
toolbar/BHO.
I use Norton which has its own add-ins for IE, so it may be that McAfee has
the same mechanism. The above process should allow you to find the offending
item and then change its popup blocking settings.

Regards.
