I need help with a DVD+RW disc

Bob

The disc was created last year and I have added 25 files to it. When I put
the disc in my drive, the Roxio drag to disc says that it is a blank disc.
I go into properties & get:
used space 0 bytes
free space 0 bytes
capacity 0 bytes
the disc logo in properties is all blue.
what has happened to all my files? I have two boxes with windows XP
installed on both. Same problem with both boxes.
can anyone help?

Three possibilities spring to mind here.

First: are you sure you haven't confused the disc that you wrote to with a
blank disc? Are you sure that you haven't erased it? If you can write to
it as a blank disc then you probably have done one of these two things.

Second: Are you using the same PC and same version of Drag to Disc to access
the disc. There are several different flavours of the UDFRW format that
these discs use and not all of them compatible with one another. Even
upgrading XP to Vista will make a difference as Vista handles packet format
differently to XP. Packet format should be regarded as machine and software
version specific.

Third: It is possible that the last time you wrote data to the disc it
corrupted the disc in some way. This is one of the major disadvantages of
the packet incremental format, but it should be far less likely with a
DVD+RW than a DVD-RW (but by no means impossible).
