I have an avi. file of about 715 Mb saved in my hard disk
and would like to save it in CD-R as a VCD.
It exceeds the midia individual capacity and would
probably need 2 cds.
Does anyone know how do I do it?
Is it possible to split the file in 2 parts which will
fit each in a cd? Or can I burn it at once using one cd
at a time?
I would really appreciate help in this matter.
Thanks.

Using the third party software, the AVI will be compressed by the software
before it makes a VCD. About 8gb of uncompressed AVI will fit on a single
VCD by the time your software has done its job.

Hi Cari,

I've been playing with my new laptop, checking ways to get analog video into
Movie Maker. I've always done my capturing via firewire to DV-AVI files, but
want to learn more about analog capture.

The laptop has a TV tuner card the Windows Media Edition, and I started by
recording using MyTV to dvr-ms files, and then converting them to MPG and
then to AVI for importing. My new Importing Source Files.... Video...
Recorded TV page covers the process.

Now I'd like to explore the option of capturing from the TV tuner card
directly into Movie Maker. Whenever I try to Capture Video, the error
message is 'The video device is currently in use. Close any other
application that is using the device and try again.' - I assume it's
referring to my TV tuner - when I click OK the next message is "The video
device cannot be used at this time because there has been an error when
starting the device".

I'm looking for any pointers. Maybe I can capture directly in MM2 without
saving first in MyTV.

PS - My laptop has a Toshiba Style Bay TV Tuner KiT Device with its
properties showing the video driver as Emuzed version 1.0.3.96

With MM2 I was able to do just that. Since MM2 I haven't been able to...
which is why I now 'cheat'... and when I want to record analog, I use an
s-video feed straight into the digital camcorder (along with the audio
signal) and then firewire it straight into the PC.

And I don't even have the TV Tuner ... it's the ATI 64mb VIVO card (a bit
dated now, I know, but it used to work just fine). If I had the time to
work out exactly what it was in MM1 that changed in MM2, we could probably
fathom this out..... (it's not drivers or capture software from ATI)....

Yes, I get the same error as you do.... device is already in use. Last time
I tried, I did manage all of 3k before it stopped! Could I get it back
again... nah! Just that same error message over and over!

.
It's quite simple - All you need is a program that will
split AVIs, there are quite a few about try using Google
to source them out - You should find one that will suit
you. Hope this helps
