no clue how to even start. after messing with it i thought i was abel to send
emails but that is not so. i keep geting this message;
The host 'aol' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the
server name correctly.
Subject 'hi', Account: 'aol', Server: 'aol', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D.

can someone please help me. i will trully appreciate it.
Diane

As the error message indicates, the host name "aol" is wrong.
The name of the outgoing (SMTP) mail server is smtp.aol.com,
and its port number is 587, not 25. For more info, see
http://members.aol.com/adamkb/aol/mailfaq/imap/

To make the corrections, go to Tools, Accounts, double-click
on the "aol" account, go to the Servers tab, make corrections there,
then go to the Advanced tab to make port number corrections.

thank u,
i tried it and no i get this message:

Subject 'Horsepower and Torque - Craig's Website', Account: 'imap.aol.com',
Server: 'imap.aol.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '* OK
imap-da08.mx.aol.com v53_b1.1 server ready', Port: 143, Secure(SSL): No,
Error Number: 0x800CCC60

You have mixed up the outgoing and incoming ports.
The outgoing server (smtp.aol.com) should have port 587.
The incoming server (imap.aol.com) should have port 143.

Gary,
i now received this message:

The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'hi', Account:
'imap.aol.com', Server: 'imap.aol.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 587,
Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

i changed what you told me too. but you know what i think i did not set it
up right. if there is such a thing.

Read my last instructions again. You still have a mismatch
between the server name ('imap.aol.com') and the port (587).
Those two don't belong together. Looks like you are trying
to send, so the server name for that should be smtp.aol.com.
