I really need Fax, does Home Premium includes Fax ?
what about Answering machine (voice machine) ?

I know that business edition, by default, come with Fax.
May I know if Home Premium edition, by default, Fax is NOT installed but I
can still add it to Windows component right?

Windows Fax and Scan is not included in any of the Home SKU's. For a
complete feature comparison see http://support.teloep.org/vistaver.htm.

why take away fax feature from Home edition?
home users don't need fax???
fax is something very basic for today's PC, it's already included in
previous windows.
why not Vista?

Ouch .. it's in Business 'n Ultimate according to that chart. There are
thrid party FAX software packages [search online for them]. You might email
them and ask if they are compatible with Windows Vista Home etc. etc.

That's a fair critique as this comment is in the larger document that the
table was pulled from:

"Whether you are a home user or a business professional in a small or
medium-sized business, the new enhancements in Windows Fax and Scan can help
you send information, handle documents, and save time."

So while it mentions home users being ones that would benefit from thew new
Windows Fax and Scan, which has some nice features, it is only available to
in the business SKU's.

The irony is that Marketing both wrote the blub AND made the decision to
distance the Home and Business sku's by removing some features from the Home
editions, thereby increasing the relative value of the Business editions.

There is supposed to be an option to add Fax and Scan to the Enterprise
Edition. We can't seem to find how. Help with that one, anyone?

In Ultimate, it's in Control Panel, Programs and Features, Turn Windows
features on or off. Windows Fax and Scan is near the bottom.

I added "Fax and Scan" to Enterprise x64. click computer, ad/remove
programs, turn Windows features on or off, Windows features, the third item
from the bottom is Windows Fax and Scan. I'm using a USR5610b modem that the
drivers install with Vista. That option may not be available on your system
if a modem isn't detected. Have a great holiday season.

In REALLY tiny print at the top the help page you linked is:

"Applies to: Business, Enterprise, Ultimate. Which edition of Windows Vista
am I using?"

Which is to say, Windows Fax and Scan is in those 3 high-end versions only.

The question at the end is actually a link, which tells you how to find out
your Vista version (duh?) and then refers you "Windows Anytime Upgrade."

P.S. Has anyone actually installed a version of Windows Vista "lower" than
the above 3? I do not have the "Anytime Upgrade" link in my System control
panel applet, but I assume that is because I am so Ultimate ;-)

Worked Great! Thanks Dennis. I'm also happy that someone finally recognized
that I said I had Vista Enterprise edition.

You guys helping out here are great! Thanks.
