Due to a bad fan motor that burned out, my harddrive overheated. I didn't realize at the time what was causing it to act up. So every time it quit on me I would reboot and lose more information on my drive. It finally wouldn't boot at all and I tried to reformat it. It would heat up and quit before I could even get that done. That's when it occured to me that it probable was the fan to blame. To make the story short, my brother has formatted it and reinstalled Windows XP SP2.
Now I can't remember what I had to add so I can click on a link or url to open it. Sometimes they just don't even work when copied and pasted.
I would so appreciate it a kind soul could enlighten me.

Oh, and also, how can I get my spell check back?

Hello, I have followed you fine until you wrote "Now I can't remember what I

don't even work when copied and pasted." Are you referring to adding an
internet browser to open a web page? If so, Internet exploer should be
installed already through the XP SP2 installation. Please let us ave some
more detail, so that we can help you.

No, I meant that sometimes I couldn't even get the link to work even when I copied and pasted it into a browser.
They used to always work before when I double clicked on them, meaning, that the file I clicked on would open in it's own window..
You lose that capability with XP SP2. I thought sure I had gotten it from Letterman's site, but I sure can't find it there now.
Of course it would help if I knew what it is called. Was hoping that someone else had had the same problem and remembered how they corrected it.
Thanks for the holler Jim.

Oh, and I did get my spell checker back. I thought mine had worked from the dictionary that I installed, but realized that I needed Microsoft works.

Janice its very hard to understand what problem you have. Is it just one
site that doesn't work or all sites. You need to remember that no one here
has the same information you have and we have to work out your problem from
what you tell us so you need to make it very clear. If the problem is with
one site copy the url and paste it into your next message. Try and make it
clear the exact problem you have.
