I need a hotfix for scvhost/rep errors

I bought this machine from the company I used to work
for. It's a compaq that had Windows 2K installed on it.

After upgrading the SP, I'm getting svchost errors. The
Windows support site indicates I need a hot fix. But from
the looks of it, MS isn't going to cough it up.

Here's the link to the latest issue, that indicates the
hotfix needed.

us;327148

For:The RPC Service Stops with Event ID 7031

The initial problem was this one, Access Violation in
Svchost.exe in Windows

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;298061&Product=win2000

But it just says to upgrade to SP 4, which didn't do the
trick.

Thanks for any help on this, as it's driving my dad crazy,
which means I get bugged in the end.
