i need a email notification that would stay onscreen in outlook 2

im ussing ofice 2003 and cant seem to get it to auto check my email when the
program is not open or to have a notifaction that would be on a visable part
of my screen that i had and messages waiting

Outlook must be running in order to check mail. This is true of every
single mail client in existence. Some have little add-ons that query your
mailbox periodically, but those add-ons must run, then.

Tools>Options>E-mail Options>Advanced E-mail Options. Check the box that
says "Display a New Mail Desktop Alert"
