I may have a Virus!

My Internet explorer, and everything works fine, I can
run programs, I can do anything i used to be able to,
except open folders...everytime I go to start and click
on ANY folder, system folder, game folder, anything...it
says "Windows explorer has encountered a problem and
needs to close. Sorry for the inconvienience" I have
tried restarting, I have scanned for viruses (with
updated virus databases) and I dont know what to do, I
have sent the error report to microsoft, but the
automatic responce says they cant help me becouse theres
no help with a problem like that. So I was thinking maybe
its a new virus that not many people know of or
something, and it stops me from entering any files, So I
cant delete it or something.
