I totally agree,
My desktop on 2k was the same. The window effects, look and feel is very much like what I was running already without the overhead.
It finally looks good enough to just use.
enjoy,

I am also one who spent hours and days trying to customize the way Windows XP looked and felt. One of the things that I had to get over was looking for new customization things. I had my Windows XP looking so much like Vista that if one did not know they would think it was Vista. However, since actually seeing and using Vista, the XP customization that is out there just does not measure up to the real thing.

I understand! I am really enjoying it also, even with the bugs that will
have to be worked out, it is just beautiful and a lot more stable, at least
on my system.
I used to put a lot of energy into changing the look and function of the
windows interface, as it was just lacking a lot and was unpleasing to my
eye. This has the sharp beauty and function of my past systems with out the
overhead of skinning programs.(although I still am using Stardocks
Objectdock to put icons on my desktop that react to the mouse)
Glad your having a Beta experience than some,
iam
