What happens when you download and install the WinXP-specific audio
drivers, as provided by your sound card's or laptop's manufacturer?

By following the instructions provided by the laptop's manufacturer on
its support web site.

Go to Start/Run, and type DEVMGMT.MSC , highlight all the devices, for each
one, Action menu, "Uninstall", then restart Windows, to find the device
drivers again automatically.

I've tried this one before. Didn't help. It found a driver and everything is
just the same. I don't get it. The day before yesterday i was watching a
movie on my laptop and the sound was fine. Yesterday it was gone. what could
have happened? any more good ideas?

You tried nothing else? Pressing the wrong buzzer on each reply isn't going
to get you the info you want.

Of course.
This is what i have tried out:
- performed a simple sound system test
- cheched volume and mute settings
- restoring the original audio driver
- install updated audio driver
- verified that the sound device is enabled
- disabled digital audio playback
- performed a Windows System Restore(couldn't find a date with changes)

so what more can i doo?

I don't think you're going to fix it. The last three identities you used
here all posted various sound problems, and nothing seems to work for any of
them Your "Posting Host" is 207.46.193.207, as "Willie" and "Seaclans", just
in the last few weeks. The sound problem seems to keep changing. You should
seek professional help.

excuse me!? but i have never been on this site before in my life, so thanks
for nothing! I have only one sound problem. Right now i am watching a film.I
can hear it because of the headphones, but when i unplug them i can't hear
anything. This is my one and only problem!

In control panel---sounds and audio---volume tab---advanced button--are you
set up for speakers???

System restore to 3 days ago ?

I have tried system restore. It's not possible, because there hasn't been any
changes on the machine. Thats the message i get anyway.

Something has changed because you have no sound .
What was the message you got *exactly * ?
