I lost Administrator password due to policies

Hello,

I am using Windows 2000 Professional (In spanish). I have the following
problem:
I installed 3 machines with Windows 2000 Professional and set them in a
workgroup. With gpedit.msc I set the same policies for the 3 PCs. The
policies worked ok. After installing all programs and configuring everything
I decided to change the Administrator (Administrador) password, due to it was
too easy ("123456"). In that moment the policies were working, but I only
restricted things like Control Panel, shutdown, and edition tools for the
registry: Due to these PCs are going to be computers for the public. I
changed the password in the 3 machines using Users and Groups, being logged
as Administrador. I continued working and testing the session of other users
and when I tried to logon as Administrador, neither the original password nor
the new one were working: I do not know what happened. I tried to access the
machines from other computers as Administrador, but it did not work. At
present, I do not know the administrador password of any of the computers.
Do you know what happened!? Could you save me of this nightmare?
Thank you very much...

It seems very strange that you were able to change the password on three
computers and now it will not work on any of them?? Make sure that you do
not have cap locks enabled and maybe try a different computer keyboard in
case there is a problem with it. If you renamed the administrator account
with Group Policy then maybe you are not using the correct name to logon as
administrator. You can use the command net localgroup administrators to see
who is in the local administrators group. If none of that helps see the link
below. --- Steve

Sorry,

It was my fault. The password had a special character which can be
written in windows but if you are in the logon window, the character
can not be written. As I could write the character in windows, I thought
I could write it in the same way in the logon window. As I was testing
policies I thought that was the reason.
Thank you very much for your help,

Icaro Alzuru C.

You should be able to enter the special character in the login
window's text box if you use the unicode sequence for it holding
the Alt key.
