I am running window XP home edition on my HP pavilion 754n. The original 80 gig WDC hard drive failed (right after the warrenty expired, of course) and I replaced it with a WDC 120 gig drive. After reloading the software, the new drive worked fine, except XP will not recognize the primary slave; a 15 gig maxtor drive that had been woking fine up until I replaced the fried drive. The bios recognized the maxtor drive, and I can see it using pc-doctor. However it will not show in control panel or any program. I have tried both line select settings and jumper setting to designate master and slave drives. The system preforms the same either way.How can I regain accesss to my slave drive? HP Tech support was a waste of time when I tried to get them to help.

Can you see the drive in Device Manager or Disk Management?
