I like Dr.web antivirus 4.31b the components are mutally independent.

- manual scanner
- realtime scanner
- email scanner
- updater
- scheduler

All can run independent.
Updater with option /ST to run in stealth mode.

Updater and manual scanner come with full command line options.
You can use any scheduler software instead of dr.web-scheduler.

And Yes, Virus database update daily 1-8 times a day.
Incremental mode.

Database is loaded into memory as multiparts.
The new database will use for scan first.

Wow.. the webpage is not so good but their product come with a
good concept. By the way, the GUI not so good.

Just my opinions.

Then take a look at Virus Chaser (www.viruschaser.com). It uses Dr. Web
components but has its own, much better UI.

Would you truly recommend Virus Chaser? I would like to know why and
what's so good about this AV scanner.
It sure looks and feels good, but I really wonder about the database
and detection rate.
Please let me know.

Thanks,

Putin

well, if we believe that it is in fact a repackaged dr. web, just look
up those details for dr. web and pretend they apply to virus chaser...

It's light in resources, easy to use, frequent small updates. It uses a
smaller database than Dr. Web that does not include detections for many
obsolete DOS viruses. Which might explain why it doesn't do so well in
published tests.
