Most likely you have a MS Laser Mouse, which from what I understand
periodically talks to the computer cause the screensaver to never kick in.
Stupid solution but unplugging the mouse will allow the screensaver to start.
You can manually start the screen saver, and add a shortcut to the Quick
Launch bar for convinience. The screen savers are located in:
C:\Windows\System32
click "Type" to sort the files alphabetically by type, and scroll down to
Screen Saver. All the names are clear, except
logon is the Windows Vista flag logo,
scrnsave is a blank screen,
ssBranded is Windows Energy
drag the file to the Quick Launch bar to add a shortcut there, and just
click it to activate the screen saver
