I installed XP in my windows 98 - HAVING MAJOR PROBLEMS HELP !!

please help my computer at home was windows 98 i borrowd
the Windows XP Professional form a friend to install. i
did this and now i cant seem to acess the internet its
saying something about the modem and that there is no
dial tome but i have a modem alreday in the computer and
the phone lines rea ll working. another problem i
experinece is if i tpye something and try to print it
wont work the printer is taking the [age in to prnt put
putting no text on it. is there anyway i can get my
computer back woring? someone had told me that maybe the
modem drives arent compativle owuld this be the case??
any help would be good.

What you did was not a good move to just borrow someone
elses XP cdrom and install on your pc, not a very good move.

Also you need t make sure that since you already did what you
did that you have the correct drivers drivers installed to support
your OS like your printer and mode. You will need to find out
the maker of your modem and go to their websites and get the
latest drivers for it and also your printer ok. In the future just don't

install XP resecrh first and make sure that your system will
will and all your internal and external devices will work under
the new OS

To expand a little on Alvin, "borrowing" your friends copy of XP was more
than "not a good move", it breaks the terms of the license agreement and is
illegal. This copy of XP will not activate without a telephone call to MS
where you will have to lie. Then, if your friend ever needs to reactivate,
he's going to have to do the same... XP can only be installed on one
computer...
