I install Microsoft Office but outlook shows offline any help

I install Microsoft Office Professional and using pop3, but the outlook shows
offline with an Xon the outlook on task bar. Can anyone tell me what I need
to do to change it to online.

Should be patently obvious all the same.
I never go offline, so I can't tell.
