I have to type prefix (http://) in Internet Explorere address bar

For some reasons as of recently I have to always type http:// prefix in Internet Explorer address bar. Also it does not remember any more previuos entries..

I am running XP Professional

apply,OK.

1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
2. Click the Advanced tab.
3. Under Browsing, click the Use inline AutoComplete for Web addresses check box, and then click OK.

I did both: restore default and repair registry as you guys suggested. Still does not work...
 
Have you tried control and enter with just the url name eg msn contro and
enter would give you msn.com

Yes, I tried. Default search is also not getting invoked..
