In the past few days I started having to actually type.
"http://www.microsoft.com" instead of "www.microsoft.com". It will not go
through without it for any page. I have checked all my settings, and their
are the same as my laptop which works fine. Ran SpyWare program and even
tried to restore computer to last week but still not luck.

Thanks!

Hi ATC :-)

Try the following and see if it helps:

Clear out temporary files and delete cookies.
http://www.pchell.com/support/privacy.shtml

and........

Adding HTTP:// to web addresses

You can check these keys and edit them, if necessary, as follows:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\
DefaultPrefix default="http://"

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\
Prefixes
"ftp"="ftp://"
"gopher"="gopher://"
"home"="http://"
"mosaic"="http://"
"www"="http://"

or.............

IE will not connect to a web page without manually typing http://

Repairs the corrupted or altered (spyware) HTTP prefixes

If these steps do not resolve your problem, or you need help with the above,
please post back to this thread with the details and any error messages.

Hope this helps

Using Regedit, browse to the following registry key and make sure the noted
setting is correct:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\AutoComplete]
"Append Completion"="yes"

also see the following values:

"Use AutoComplete"="yes"
"AutoSuggest"="no"

Hi Jan,

Tried everything listed and still no luck. I changed the one key that was
listed under:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\
Prefixes
****default was here and changed that to "http://"****
"ftp"="ftp://"
"gopher"="gopher://"
"home"="http://"
"mosaic"="http://"
"www"="http://"

Everything else was good. I also ran the:

Repairs the corrupted or altered (spyware) HTTP prefixes
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/RepairDefaultPrefix.reg

Still no luck through. All temp files and cookies have been deleted as well.

Thanks Jan! :)

I changed the two settings, both were incorrect. Still no luck though.

Thanks,
ATC

Hi ATC :-)

Try this and see if it helps:

Reset Search:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads/tools/IEFIX.reg
This will restore your default Search functionality. However, if you had
any custom adjustments you have made will have to re-select them.

Restore default Search functions:

In order to restore you default Search functions, download and run the
program below. You will have to redo any customized features you may have
added afterward.
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/RestoreSearch2.REG

and....

Resets all the IE functions - for windows, hangups,

Start> Run> Paste this
regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll

and then do the same with each one of the following..

regsvr32 Shell32.dll
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
regsvr32 Urlmon.dll

or.....open an ms-dos prompt window and type the following hitting enter
after each line.

regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 Shell32.dll
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
regsvr32 Urlmon.dll
