I am working on a Toshiba Laptop running XP Professional.
It has an older Epson Stylus Color 850 hooked to it using
a parallel cable.
To get the printer to work I have to delete the print
driver and the LPT1 port, then reboot the computer so that
it will set them up again. It works fine until the next
shutdown/reboot.
When the computer boots back up and you try to print you
get a message that the document failed to print.
If you look at the queue sometime it shows the job with an
error message. Other times it shows the job and the size
keeps changing from 0 to the actual size.
If you delete the jobs. Then, repeat the delete and
reinstall above, the printer works until the next
shutdown/reboot.
I have deleted the drivers, using the print server option.
I have downloaded new drivers from Epson. I have installed
service pack 1. I have scanned for viruses with McAffee
using last weeks dat, and also with Stinger(11/03 version).
Someone told me to delete the registry keys but I have not
been able to find a list of what registry keys to delete.
If any one has any ideas of what to try next, Please e-
mail me, or post a reply.
Thanks in advance.
