I would like to use Outlook 2003 for email. I have followed the setup steps
exactly. But it does not work. Time Warner tried to help, but finally gave
up and referred me to Dell. The software came with my computer. I spent a
great deal of time with the Dell people, but I was still unable to solve my
problem. They Dell people did not give up, they just have not solved the
problem. When I do the test the settings on Outlook email it shows that
everything is correct. However, the test message (and every other message
that I send) ends up in Road Runner's Webmail.

My operating system is Windows XP.

First, make sure that the SPA checkbox isn't set on your POP3 settings page
for the email account. Then after you set up your email account with Road
Runner's mail servers, your user identity and password select the More
Settings button. In the Outgoing Server tab check "My outgoing server
requires authentication", then select the "Use same settings as my incoming
mail server". Click OK. That should do it.

I use Road Runner with Outlook 2003 and have since the Outlook 98 days and
it works just fine.

Thank you for the information, but it still did not solve my problem. I have
two users on the computer I am trying to use Outlook. I am able to send mail
using Outlook, but received mail goes to Road Runner's Web Mail. The other
user can neither send or receive mail using Outlook. Web Mail must be used.
If you have any ideas I would appreciate your input. Regardless, thanks for
taking the time to respond to my question.

As far as I know the Web mail doesn't prevent you from receiving your emails
using POP3, unless there's some account setting you have to change somewhere
on the Road Runner Web site.

All I ever do is enter a mail server name using the logon information that
Road Runner provides. Did they provide you with POP3/SMTP logon information?
