Our company used to use a web design company and decided to do it themselves.
I have now got the Host name, the username and the password off the web
design company, but i have no idea how to save them onto my hard drive so i
can edit it myself. Can anyone help me?

Is there someplace close by where you can take a crash course.... & Run out
and Get Jim Buyens' book "FrontPage Insideout" for whichever version you
have.
Someone else wiill answer your specific question, I'm sure.

Open FrontPage

Do File / Open Web

Type in http://www.thewebsitename.com

Click Open

After giving username and password, assuming they are correct for opening the
web the files should download into your frontpage

Click on the Folders view and you should see your files.

Then do File / Publish and browse to a location on your hard drive where you
want to publish the web.

From then on, when you work on the web you do it by opening the website on your
local computer and make changes there. As the first responder said, you have
some catching up to do on using FrontPage

When you are happy with the changes, then do File / Publish and select the
location http://www.thewebsitename.com which will result on your updated website
being sent up to the hosting company.

Not to seem rude, but it is possible you're not the ideal person for this gig if
you are at such a loss about the basics. At the very least you ought to get and
read a good book or two on the subject before you try to do anything, or chances
are what you'll do is more harm than good.

Well, that's companies for you. They always know everything about
everything and nothing about anything.

It isn't the sort of thing you can just dive into. If you do, you'll regret
it. Take some time to learn something about HTML and FrontPage before you
start. And back everything up before you make any changes!
