I have no sound at all!

I plugged in both my sets of new and old speakers, but neither work. I just
got Microsoft XP Pro yesterday and I assume this is the changed varible. How
can I get sound back?

If you upgraded from Me or W98 or what ever, then you'll need to download
specific XP soundcard drivers from your manufacturer's website. Install them
and you should have your sound back.

no sound on start up etc

Hi,

I have a rel new win xp and have checked Speech/Audio & Sound and everything looks fine. I have also checked Device Manager which also looks good.

I have thought about running Smart Restore but this means losing stuff so I want that as a last resort.

Anyone got any ideas?

Someone has mentioned a patch for realtek 97ac but I am worried, any help would be appreciated.
