i have configured ICS on my HOST machine under WINDOWSXP
Home edition, it has two NIC cards one for the HOME and
one for the SHARED. My ISP assigned my connection as PPOE.
i was able to connect to the internet with the Built in
PPOE of WIndows XP. My CLIENT machine has a Windows 98SE
installed with only on NIC card. Both HOST and CLIENT are
assigned IP. The host had an IP of 192.168.0.1 and the
rest are 192.168.0.2--. it has a Subnet of 255.255.255.0
The Client Gateway was configured to 192.168.0.1 and the
DNS Configuration are HOST: Client IP Address: 192.168.0.1
and Everything is working fine... the internet connection
has been shared to Clients BUT i have problems accesing
Yahoo mail and ICQmail in Clients Machine only. While at
my Host machine there was no problem accessing those
webmail. i already configured the SERVICES of SMTP and
other services related to Internet but still cannon access
those Webmail. Anyone who can help me... Thanks....

This is a common problem with shared DSL connections that use PPP Over
Ethernet (PPPoE). Here are some possible fixes. Any one of them
should solve the problem:

1. Install Windows XP Service Pack 1 on the ICS host computer.

2. Find the right MTU setting on the client computers, as shown here:

http://www.annoyances.org/exec/show/article04-107

and then make the setting manually on the client computers, or use
DrTCP to make it:

http://www.dslreports.com/front/drtcp.html

3. Download the free RASPPPoE program and install it on the host
computer. Use it instead of XP's PPPoE program. Details at these
sites:
