Please can you help, why can I not import MP4 files into windows movie
player...is there a simple solution

..mp4 files are not compatible with Movie Maker...
you need to convert them to a compatible format.

Might be worth a try to convert the files to .wmv
using Windows Media Encoder:

(Tip: After clicking the 'Convert a File' button...
when you click the 'Browse' button to select
your .mp4 file...you will not see .mp4 as a choice.

If you open the 'Files of Type' drop window
and choose 'All Files' you can select your .mp4
file.

Under 'Content Distribution'... 'File Archive'
might be a good choice.
