I was following the Help directions trying to create my first custom menu. I
chose the built-in File Edit View Records Tools and dragged them onto it.

I wanted to limit the commands so I deleted commands by dragging off.

Unwisely I deleted View->Toolbars command which is Apparently What I Need to
Fix the Problem.

I wanted this Custom Menu to appear in Form View only. It seems to be global
as it is in effect on other databases as well as all views in any database.
When I tried to add it to the ToolBar Property of my form Access said it wasn't
the correct type (menu, toolbar or short cut)

nevermind i got it.

still don't know how to do custom menu bar that has subset of the menus and
menu commands of them built-in.

View / Toolbars / Customise ... Toolbars dialog appears

When the ToolBars tab is visible, click New ...

You can add built-in Commands or your own Custom Commands.

And just to add a tip; you can easily add built-in menus by using
Ctrl-drag - that'll copy them.

Thank you. This link isn't there. Somehow I was editing (subtracting from)
the built-in menu instead of what I thought was a new menu which was a copy of
the built-in menu. My understanding now is that you must ADD "from scratch" to
get a subset of built-in menus and built-in commands. I tried to start w/ a
copy of the built-in and SUBTRACT.
