I don't have a mess anymore ... I'm screwed!

I kept fooling around until now I can't boot to anything but a floppy.

I've got the 4 Floppy Boot Disk set and I'd like to just re-install Windows
2000 but can you do this from the Recovery Console without trashing all your
programs and files????

It's a long tale of someone "trying to do something" when they don't know
how to do it. I put it on the web at with a couple of screenshots at this
address: http://www.salesdepartment.com/hardware

Right now I don't seem to be able to replace anything and make it work. Any
change I make leads to a boot disk not found. The only way I can bring up
the machine is with "Last Known Good Configuration". Then it tries to
install the Primary and Secondary IDE's all over again.

Any help would be sincerely appreciated. If the phone would be easier I have
a toll free number (work in USA only) on the web page.

NO you can't do an install from the repair console.
However you can do an install without losing your data or
settings, service packs need to be reapplied.

just boot to the install cd and specify install without a
format. You might try the repair install, but I think
an inplace upgrade is in order, you might still see the
problems with the ide controllers. but at least windows
will be operating.
