I have an HP IPAQ 1945 that I can't get to sync with Vista

As I read in another message, everything was fine with sync between the IPAQ
and Windows XP. Now that I have a new computer with Vista, it's useless.
After hours of online reading on HP site (which proved useless), I finally
figured out that IPAQ wasn't compatible with Vista. I have installed what I
believe to be the correct drivers, etc so that the IPAQ will sync with new
computer/Vista. When I plug the USB cord that I used on the old computer to
the new computer, nothing happens. I'm not very good when it comes to this
sort of thing. I need someone to walk me through exactly what needs to be
done so that I can sync my IPAQ with the new computer. HELP

It's most likely not the IPAQ, rather the version of the Pocket PC os on the
IPAQ as Vista won't sync with anything prior to Pocket PC 2003. If you
can't determine which version you have, contact HP as it will be through
them you'll need to get a later version of Pocket PC for your IPAQ.

I found my firewall was not allowing vista to sync with my IPAQ, you might
look at advanced firewall properties & see if it is allowing the sync. my
IPAQ is a 1950 with mobile 5.0.

Interesting. I hadn't thought of that. I have installed and reinstalled
Windows Mobile Device Center as suggested by someone else and that didn't
make any difference. I will check into the firewall possibility tonight if I
can get the children in bed. Thanks!
